our US history book bag

Earliest Explores to life in the American Colonies.
(and the revised edition the original has lots of good information on Natives populations which did not make it into the revised edition)
The Brown Paper School USKids History series is amazing!!!!
Scholastic Homework Reference Series is a great basic outline for what to make sure to cover. Great for review and summation.

reading now: Junie B., First Grader Boss of Lunch

Yesterday at the library I sought out the Librarian's advice on a Chapter book Boo might like.  It needed a good story, big clear print, and a good fluency builder for an independent reader.  She recommended the Junie B, series of books.  I carefully crawled through the 30 or so on hand (including the middle grade readers by the same author) looking for one she might like and understand since her exposure to school life has been limited to 3 months in kindergarten, things she sees in the media, and Ramona books.

For whatever reason before we even cracked the front cover Boo decided she didn't like this book.  The funniest part is she is absolutely loving it but will not admit!  I offered for us to stop reading and switch to another book but of course she said no, she would keep going for my

side note: learning about time zones

Did you know it was the Railroads that were responsible for creating Standardized Time in the US?  Learn something new everyday!

Level 5 home meet

Yesterday was our one home meet of the season.  Level 5 hasn't been the easiest (holy cow!) or smoothest (a few injuries on the team) but we have a great team of amazing little giants, a wonderful coach, super supportive other coaches, and great friends to share it with.  A girl may have a bad meet, parents a bad morning, coaches a long day, but together working as a team we are undefeated!
3rd on Bars (with a GTC tie for 1st)
Vault (GTC) tie for 1st
5th on Beam (with yep, a GTC tie for 1st)
1 st on Floor
1st in the All Around 36.575 (GTC 1st, 2nd, 3rd, & 4th)
The team taking 1st (again)

for the love of Halloween

Spooked the house
Packed the car with hot chocolate, Monster, and a blanket
Enjoyed a little monstering around on a Halloween Light drive
A drive which ended at a pumpkin patch
Yes of course it would the one she would love.
Not how it is done besides you have a gymnastics meet tomorrow and I would be in big trouble if you went in short a digit...
A quick phone call  from Papa hunting down South then back to work
Vampy all done.
Seeds roasted.
Good Night All!
