physical science: matter

We turned the schedule upside down to start our day with science.  We have been using a Macmillan/McGraw-Hill textbook Science Grade 3, for awhile now.  We are trying to finish it by the end of next week (2 Chapters to go! see our science goals).

Today we covered all of Chapter 6, Matter (3 lessons) very fitting after yesterday’s liquid nitrogen demo at the NHMU.  Here is Boo doing an Inquiry Activity: How Does Matter Change?
I really have enjoyed the experiments & writing links in this text but I cannot say I am sad to leave it behind.  I am sick of boring science reading, drone, drone, drone, when science is so, so, so exciting!!!










Here we are doing a Quick Lab on chemical changes with vinegar, salt, & pennies.
Time to let a girl have some alone time with her volcano…

    You should check out Steve Spanglers book, Naked Eggs and Flying Potatoes. It has some pretty fun science experiments with simple and in depth explanations to go with them.
    Volcanoes are so cool :)
