maple syrup taffy

How To Make Maple Syrup Taffy On Snow
Gather clean fresh snow and pack it into a bowl or pie tin and leave outside to keep it cold.  Pour a half cup of real maple syrup into a small saucepan.  Bring the syrup to a boil over medium-high heat.  If you have a candy thermometer remove from heat when it reaches 235°F.  If not you can use a glass of cold water to test when it is ready, removing from heat when it reaches the soft ball stage. Immediately drizzle it over the packed snow. Let the syrup cool for just a minute or two, then pick it up with a toothpick and eat! (Watch your teeth it is very stick!)
